The Fox & Goose - Parracombe 

The Fox & Goose Parracombe has to be our favourite place to eat. They offer fresh fish, game and prime local meats and good local ales. The best steak we’ve ever tasted. Many ingredients are sourced locally which means the menu varies with the seasons. As well as the usual pub classics, there are usually 2 or 3 other fish dishes, steak, duck and game, plus an extensive range of vegetarian dishes such as traditional cauliflower cheese to bean and pasta specialities.

The Black Venus- Challacombe

The Black Venus is believed to be the only inn in England bearing this name. It is a splendid old stone-built pub that enjoys a wonderful situation on Exmoor; with lots of character including low ceilings and original beams. The food is homemade and the ale is local. Your dog is welcome and there are many circular dog walks that start from the pub including the historic Packhorse Bridge and Challacombe church. EX31 4TT Tel: 01598 763 251

Sawmills- Berrynarbor

Sawmills is newly opened in 2016 and offers good gastro-pub type food. They offer fresh sustainable fish from the Ilfracombe fishing boats, Appledore and South Devon and all their beef is from local Devon & Exmoor suppliers. Dog friendly inside and out. EX34 9SJ Tel: 883388

Hunters Inn - Heddons Mouth

An Arts & Crafts style pub now owned by the National Trust and set at the head of Heddons Mouth. A great place for a pub lunch or cream tea and a good walk. Direct access to the South West Coast Path and a lovely walk down to Heddons Mouth. Indoor seating area with large picture window over-looking the gardens. Dog friendly. New for 2019 a woodland nature walk with carved wooden sculptures, streams and ponds. EX31 4PY Tel: 01598 763230

Pack 0 Cards - Combe Martin

Constructed to resemble a deck of cards, The Pack O Cards was built on a plot of land measuring 52ft x 52ft, has four floors (representing the number of suits in a pack), 13 doors on every floor and 13 fireplaces (number of cards in a suit) and, prior to window tax, the panes of glass in all the windows added up to the total of the numbered cards in a pack.

Plenty of free car parking, and less than a 10-minute gentle stroll to the sea, the Pack o' Cards has a good selection of real ales and lagers and you can enjoy meals in the restaurant or riverside garden. The restaurant is split into three rooms, some of which are dog friendly. There is a large playground for the children and in the summer they have barbeques in the garden and an excellent Sunday carvery. EX34 0ET Tel: 01271 882300

The Rising Sun - Lynmouth

Ancient and picturesque building with excellent food. Be warned though, their sandwiches are huge!!! Set right on the harbourside at Lynmouth with lovely views out to sea. Perhaps not particularly child friendly, but dogs are allowed in the bar area.  Serving the very best in fresh seasonal produce, their menu has something for everyone, from fish lovers to vegetarians, with an ever-changing selection of specials to reflect the best of the coast and countryside. The Pyne Arms - East down

The Pine Arms is a traditional country pub set in the small hamlet of East Down just off the A39 between Barnstaple and Lynton. It was relaunched in 2012 and is offering locally sourced food with a modern twist with everything from a Sunday roast to specialty fish on the menu. An award winning pub both locally and nationally and rated seventeenth in the Top 50 Gastropub Awards

The pub is also convenient for those wishing to visit the National Trust property of Arlington Court which is also just off the A39 beyond the East Down turning.

Chichester Arms Morthoe

Situated next to the church in the pretty village of Mortehoe near Woolacombe, was once was the old vicarage but has been pub since 1820. The Chichester Arms offer a variety of real ales, cider, foreign beers, ample parking, beer garden and outside terrace. Specialising in fresh seafood, steaks, roast meats, and fresh vegetables all cooked to order, they aim to use humanely and ethically produced food from British farmers so they can be sure of trace ability and high standards of animal welfare. The Rock Inn - Georgeham

This 17th Century, dog friendly Inn boasts five cask marque real ales, an extensive wine list and really good fresh food cooked with flair served in either the fireside bars or airy conservatory. Their food is made using local produce and is cooked to order. Their Sunday lunches are very popular, and there is normally a choice of 5 roast options available, as well as all of the usual suspects you’d expect to find. The Coach House at Kentisbury Grange - Kentisbury

For something a bit more special why not try The Coach House at Kentisbury Grange. This 17^th century former coaching house is now a Michael Caines restaurant and incorporates a stunning walnut and marble bar with an oak staircase, handmade artisan furniture and stylish décor to create a glamorous yet intimate dining space.

The Coach House offers classic cuisine and was awarded two AA Rosettes in 2016 and Gold for Restaurant of the Year in the South West Tourism Awards 2016 for the second year running. Storm in a Teacup - Watermouth Harbour

A little gem of a beach cafe situated right on the front in the picturesque harbour at Watermouth between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. A quirky idea of creating a cafe in a boat! Fabulous location with outside seating area or covered gazebo, or inside the boat if not too many people. Stunning views of the harbour and great food. Squires Fish & Chip Restaurant - Braunton

Since 1969 Squires award winning Fish and Chip restaurant in Braunton,  prides itself on doing the classic British dish of fish and chips proud. Black & White Fish & Chips - Combe Martin

We are very lucky to have two great fish and chips shops in Combe Martin. The Black & White serves traditional seaside fish & chips to take away. They offer good size portions at reasonable prices with some fish like Plaice cooked to order. They receive 5* reviews on Trip Advisor. Situated down near the seafront opposite the Outdoor shop. Top Chippy - Combe Martin

A locals favourite situated higher up the village on the main road opposite the church. Not just a fish and chip shop, they also serve great burgers, wraps, pizzas, chicken and salads. They have received lots of 5* reviews on Trip Advisor and are popular with locals and visitors . EX34 OHT 

Harbour Deli - Combe Martin

A traditional delicatessen selling cooked hot food, sandwiches, cakes and much more. Eat in or take away and enjoy on the beach. Great place for breakfast or lunch. Situated down near the seafront in Combe Martin. Tel: 01271 883688 

West Country Fayre

If you fancy an indulgent treat, take a trip to West Country Fayre down at the seaside in Combe Martin. Not only will you find an array of local Beers, Farm Scrumpy, Meade and Spirits and homemade cream teas, you will also find award winning homemade jams and preserves as well as ice cream. But for an even more indulgent treat, visit The Combe Martin Fudge Kitchen in store and sample some truly original artisan fudges, made on the premises by the owners Graham & Vikki. Yum!!
