In a different location to Nutcombe Cottages but still in Combe Martin is Elsley; a three-bedroom bungalow situated in the heart of Combe Martin and only a gentle stroll from the cove with its beachside pubs, restaurants and shops. Designed to make the most of the sunlight, Elsley is south facing with lovely vistas of the valley opposite. Its location makes it the perfect base for exploring everything that the local area has to offer (see local area page).


Although Elsley is equipped for families, it also makes the perfect base for couples sharing or on their own and is ideal for those with slight disabilities or the elderly.

Elsley comprises of:

Entrance Hall Entry to the bungalow is up two small risers with grab rails into the entrance hall with pine floorboards and a marble topped sideboard and coat rack. All rooms lead off the hallway as follows:

Kitchen/diner The kitchen/diner is a large double aspect room with views over the front garden and is equipped with a large fridge/freezer, freestanding ceramic hob and electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and washing machine. There is a large table with plenty of space to seat six which also extends if more space is required.

Just outside the back door off the kitchen is a small utility area with a Tumble Dryer and space for recycling and refuse.

The lounge is a bright sunny, south facing room with a three-seater sofa and a two-seater sofa, large TV with Freeview, DVD player with a selection of DVD’s for cosy nights in, a coffee table, dresser, music centre with a selection of CD’s for different musical tastes, plus puzzles and family games. For parties of six, there is the option of placing the tub chair from the smaller bedroom for extra seating if required.

The master bedroom is very spacious with ample storage in a large double, built in wardrobe, solid oak chest of drawers, dressing table and bedside cabinets. The bed is a wrought iron king size bed with memory foam topper and there is a lovely bedroom chair for extra comfort.

The second bedroom is at the rear of the bungalow and is also a king size room. There is a solid pine king size bed, a large solid oak wardrobe with drawers, a chest of drawers, dressing table and bedside cabinets.

The single/twin room has views over the rear garden and has the option of being set out as a single room or a twin room, making it very versatile for extended families. There is a large chest of drawers for storage and a tub chair when used as a single.

Bathroom and toilet The toilet is separate from the bathroom which is equipped with a full size bath with overhead shower.

Central Heating and WiFi Elsley has full gas fired central heating with unlimited free WiFi.

Linen All linen for beds is provided, but please note guests are asked to supply their own towels and T-towels.

Outside Space Elsley has its own fully enclosed south facing front garden with porch area which is a real sun trap. There is dining furniture for alfresco dining as well as a rear garden. A perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by and enjoy the sunshine. The private driveway has parking for at least three cars.

Family Friendly We have available on request a full-size travel cot together with a highchair for our younger visitors.

Dogs I’m afraid we do not accept dogs at Elsley.

Changeover Day Our changeover day for Elsley is a Saturday all year round.

  • Please note: We do not supply towels or T-towels at Elsley so you will need to bring your own.

  • Please note that the rental period shall commence at 3.00pm on the first day of your holiday and finish at 10.00am on the day of departure.
  • Changeover day is Saturday all year round.

  1. To reserve the property of your choice,  please complete an Enquiry form or contact us by telephone on 01271 889379 or email nutcombecottages@googlemail.com

  2. We will contact you within 24 hours to confirm if the property of your choice is available and the price.

  3. Once your dates and cottage has been confirmed as available, you will need to complete a Booking Form with details of your party and return to us via email or post.

  4. To download the Word version of our Booking Form, please click here. If you wish to print one off, please download our PDF version here.

  5. We will then hold the property for seven days while we await your completed and signed Booking Form & deposit (see below)

  6. To secure your booking we require a non-refundable deposit which is 30% of the total amount due (See our Terms & Conditions).

  7. Preferred method of payment is via bank transfer, although we do accept cheques. We do not accept card payments.
  8. Following receipt of the booking form and deposit, we will email a confirmation receipt to you. This is a formal acceptance of your booking.

  9. The final payment will be due six weeks prior to your visit.

Getting Here


Directions to Elsley are as follows:

  • Approaching Combe Martin from Blackmoor Gate:
  • Take the A399 signposted to Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.
  • Follow the road pass the Wildlife Park, down the very long High Street into the heart of the village and almost on to sea front.
  • Opposite Loverings garage and chemist, which is on the left, and just before a convenience store on the right, turn right into Hangman Path.
  • Follow the road past the school gates and at the top, bear right into Rews Close.
  • Elsley is situated about eight houses up on the left-hand side and is the first bungalow past the end of the school field.
  • A low white wall topped with a hedge, the driveway guarded by two white pillars and a dark green garage door, identifies the bungalow. ‘Elsley’ is engraved in the top of the left hand pillar.
