The Cider House is part of a large two-story, Grade II listed, bank barn conversion (to the left of the main picture) and is perfect for couples or small families up to four people. It has its own south facing slate sun terrace overlooking the original cobbled and grassed courtyard to the countryside views beyond.
The Cider House comprises of:
First Floor: Like Nutcombe Cottage and Nutcombe Barn, Cider house is a bank barn and therefore entry is from the rear of the property at ground level onto the first floor of the cottage. Here you will find an open plan living/kitchen/dining area with vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, solid English oak flooring and original stonework.
The kitchen/dining area is fitted with blue cupboards and solid granite work surfaces and is equipped with a Smeg fridge/freezer, ceramic hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle and enough crockery for two days supply for four people. There is a sociable round dining table with four chairs for cosy dinners in.
The open plan lounge area has a large flat screen TV with Freesat box offering over 200 channels as well as a DVD player with a small selection of DVD's. Enjoy the comforts of home with a Next two-seater sofa or one of two armchairs, perfectly positioned to enjoy the views from the lounge window. The furniture is solid oak to match the flooring.
The two en-suite bedrooms are located on the lower floor where you will also find a washer/dryer concealed in a cupboard under the stairs.
The king size bedroom has a large oak wardrobe with lower drawer, oak bedside cabinets with a wrought iron king size bed where you can lie and look out of the window at the views. It has its own en-suite bathroom with a full size bath for long lazy soaks with an overhead shower. We also supply a hairdryer, iron and ironing board so you can look your best too!
The single/small twin bedroom also has a large wardrobe with lower drawer with oak bedside cabinet. The bed is a full size three foot, wrought iron single with a full-size trundle bed beneath. This room can be set up as a small twin which is perfect for two children or left as a single for smaller families. There is also a luxury en-suite shower room with large walk in shower with rainfall shower head and massage jet system for the ultimate in luxury showering. There is access to the terrace from this room through French doors.
Large family gatherings To enable us to cater for larger parties, we have the capability of opening up between Nutcombe Barn and Cider House at first floor level to create one larger property that can sleep ten people in five en-suite rooms. This offers the perfect solution for large family gatherings like Christmas and New Year or just an extended family holiday. There is the option to have the furniture moved so that Nutcombe Barn becomes a social space and Cider House becomes a dining area. Please note This is not available during peak summer season.
Central Heating and WiFi All our cottages have full oil fired central heating with unlimited free WiFi.
Linen All linen is provided including towels and T-towels. We ask that you bring your own beach towels and dog towels and that cottage supplies are not used for this purpose.
Outside Space The Cider House has it’s own south facing enclosed courtyard accessed from the single bedroom which is equipped with dining furniture with parasol for alfresco dining, as well as two sun loungers. A perfect spot to sit and watch the swallows dipping on the pond across the courtyard and the views beyond.
Family Friendly We have available a full-size wooden cot together with a highchair for our younger visitors. There is also a stair gate at the top of the stairs for their safety.
Dog friendly We happily accept one small/medium size dog over the age of 18 months in The Cider House, however, if there are four people staying it is at our discretion due to the size of the property. We ask that dogs be kept off the furniture but do provide throws for those who cannot resist. We also request they are kept upstairs in the living area and they are not to be left unattended in the cottage. Visitors with dogs at Cider house are asked to use our dog garden which is about 20 feet from the door and use the dog bin provided to clear up after their pet. You also have use of our three-acre field to exercise your dogs or just to observe the abundance of wildlife including, rabbits, badgers, the occasional deer and plenty of birds and buzzards flying overhead. Please see our Yours Dogs Holiday at Nutcombe page to see our Dog House Rules.
