Elsley Fire Safety

During your stay at Elsley, your safety is paramount to us. Therefore, please take the time to familiarize yourself with our FIRE EVACUATION PLAN in the Welcome Folder on arrival so you know the procedures and escape routes available in the building in case of fire. Copies of the Fire Evacuation Plan are also on the back of the bedroom doors.

DURING YOUR STAY

In line with New Government Regulations on Fire Safety in Self-Catering Accommodation dated 1st October 2023, please note that we cannot allow:

  • The use of your own electrical devices such as air con units, deep fat fryers or fans or any other high usage electrical equipment
  • The charging of EV Vehicles or E-bikes
  • The use of candles or ethanol burners.
  • Smoking or vaping

Your own electrical equipment would not have been PAT tested and if a fire is caused by the use of any of these items, our insurance will be invalid, so please help us to keep everyone safe.

The Charging of laptops, Tablets and mobiles is fine but please do not charge overnight, disconnect leads from the mains when charged and only use manufacturer provided charging leads.

Please also be aware of other common fire hazards such as:

  • Leaving cooking unattended
  • Overloading electrical sockets
  • Using faulty devices
  • Using the washer/dryer overnight or when you are out

To help keep yourselves safe during your stay, we also ask that all doors are closed at night, particularly the kitchen to help compartmentalize a fire should one occur.

If you have any fire safety concerns or incidents during your stay, please notify us immediately.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

Elsley is fitted with a smoke alarm in the lounge, one in each of the bedrooms and one in the hallway plus a heat alarm in the kitchen. There is also a carbon monoxide detector located on the wall in the kitchen.

In the event of power failure, emergency lights will illuminate in the hallway where you will also find an escape torch.
